Gail Lee Cowdin

Gail Lee Cowdin is the author of three popular crime detective thrillers, Deception and Redemption, The Final Deception, and Dark Deceptions. The last Dark Deceptions novel moves from previous settings in Minnesota to the Ozarks of Northwest Arkansas. Her novels have fast-paced action plots involving the investigations with Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Detectives Quay Thompson and his partner Samantha ‘Sam’ Atwood. Gail also published a children’s book in 2019. Her granddaughter Caylen Cowdin illustrated Little Dee7: A Handbell Story.
 
Gail has a BS degree in English from the Minnesota University Mankato and a Masters degree from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She taught middle level English and K-12 English as a Second Language in the Anoka-Hennepin District in Minnesota for 37 years. After retiring in 2003 and moving to Bella Vista, Arkansas, Gail taught high school students in grades 9-12 for two years at Rogers Night School supporting students who were working to recover credits for graduation. From 2005-2015, she worked as an education consultant and traveled to school districts all over the country to provide training, support and technology instruction for teachers working to improve student proficiency in reading and math.
 
Although, Gail wrote her first novel just after retiring in 2003, she didn’t publish Deception and Redemption: A Quay Thompson Novel until 2014. Two other novels followed in 2016 and 2019. Her children’s book was also published in 2019. She is currently beginning a fourth novel. The title is yet to be determined, but some of her previous characters will appear.
 
Gail is a member of Bentonville/Bella Vista Altrusa as a volunteer working with schools and libraries and various non-profits to support literacy. She is an active member of Village Lakes Writers and Poets.
In February of 2020, she received an award as The Featured Artist of the Month with the Bella Vista Arts Council.
Gail always enjoys her book signings and author talks with groups in Minnesota and Arkansas. She loves to visit with readers about her books and discuss books by other authors. She belongs to two book clubs. She has taught writing classes to budding grade school authors, and has had the honor of serving as a judge at the Fayetteville Young Writers Contest. She is available for author talks with any groups who request a program.
